Co-produced Shuttle Dreams with new-music composers Daria Dobrochna Kwiatkowska & Scott Wilson at the Music Gallery.
This video was recorded live at the Music Gallery in Toronto in February of 2004, and features live music by Daria Dobrochna Kwiatkowska and Scott Wilson, and live puppetry by David Powell and Mark Keetch. The video allows us quite literally ‘behind the screen’ to observe both the puppet manipulation by Powell and Keetch and their projected puppet images, often simultaneously. Punctuated with lifelike subway bells and whistles, the dream-inspired visual narrative is supported with dream-like music that manages to distort our experience of time. The creators capture the movement of the train, the various environments into which the train is transported, and the various struggles that the driver encounters along the way. The result is a work of playful magic.
